FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 24, 2022 — Lambda Theta Alpha is excited to announce its new partnership with the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute’s (NHLBI) The Heart Truth®, the first federally-sponsored health education program in the nation. Launched in 2002, the program raises awareness about heart disease and its risk factors and encourages heart-healthy living behaviors.
As the first Latina sorority to join The Heart Truth® Healthy Hearts Network, Lambda Theta Alpha will help drive outreach efforts and increase awareness among women between the ages of 25-39, especially African American and Latina women who are most at risk of heart disease. The Network includes a variety of public and private organizations from around the country that are committed to promoting and educating about heart health among the communities they serve through outreach, research, and social and digital media.
This partnership will amplify and extend the reach of NHLBI’s research information and programs into local communities across the country. Additionally, our members will gain access to free science-based print and digital materials, social media resources, and resources for observances.
We look forward to working with NHLBI, growing our partnership, participating in American Heart Month activities, supporting National Wear Red Day®, and much more.
