UNION, NJ — In honor of its 50th anniversary, Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. proudly announced two historic $50,000 philanthropic gifts during its Golden Celebration on Friday, December 5, 2025, held at Kean University, the birthplace of the sorority and home to its founding.

$50,000 Gift to Establish the Lambda Theta Alpha Endowed Scholarship at Kean University
Lambda Theta Alpha announced a transformative gift: a $50,000 contribution to the Kean University Foundation to create the Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc.
Endowed Scholarship. This endowment, designed to exist in perpetuity, will provide ongoing financial support for Kean University students, prioritizing equitable access to education and supporting future leaders. Endowed scholarships at Kean provide a permanent and reliable source of student aid, with earnings awarded annually to eligible students.
This scholarship further deepens the sorority’s historical connection to Kean University, where Lambda Theta Alpha was founded in 1975 with a purpose to cultivate scholars, amplify women’s voices, and advance social, cultural, and educational empowerment for Latina students.
“Lambda Theta Alpha continues to be one of Kean University’s most influential and inspiring legacies,” said Dr. Lamont O. Repollet, President of Kean University. “From their earliest days, the sisters of LTA advocated for equity, mentored their peers, and created pathways for Latino students to thrive. This new endowed scholarship will transform lives for generations, and we are proud to be part of this historic moment.”

$50,000 Gift to the Lambda Theta Alpha Foundation
This milestone event marked the culmination of Lambda Theta Alpha’s year-long national campaign, “$50,000 for 50 Years of Lambda Theta Alpha,” aimed at expanding access to education and advancing the sorority’s legacy of service via its foundation.
The sorority presented $50,000 to the Lambda Theta Alpha Foundation, supporting scholarships and leadership development opportunities for women nationwide. The donation will deepen the Foundation’s ability to distribute financial support to students and further its mission of empowerment, academic advancement, and community investment.
“This extraordinary gift reflects the heart of our sisterhood and the impact we can make when we unite with purpose,” said Jenna Wright, President of the Lambda Theta Alpha Foundation. “As we celebrate 50 years of Lambda Theta Alpha, this contribution ensures that future generations of scholars and leaders will have greater access to the opportunities they deserve, and we can continue to support those who need it most.”

A Golden Legacy for the Next 50 Years and Beyond
The combined $100,000 investment reflects Lambda Theta Alpha’s enduring commitment to education, access, and community impact. As the first Latina sorority in the nation, Lambda Theta Alpha continues to lead with purpose and honor the values of Unity, Love & Respect that have guided its mission for half a century.
These philanthropic gifts not only celebrate the sorority’s illustrious past but also signal its dedication to shaping the next chapter of leadership, scholarship, and sisterhood.
“As we honor 50 years of Lambda Theta Alpha, we are reminded that our legacy is not defined by what we keep, but by what we give. These historic gifts represent the power of a sisterhood that has always dared to dream boldly and invest generously in the future. Together, we are lighting pathways for scholars, leaders, and visionaries who will carry our flame forward for the next 50 years and beyond,” said Rosa Díaz, National President of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc.
In the spirit of giving that defined the evening, attendees also contributed to a holiday toy drive, with all donations benefitting Carteret Public Schools, further extending the celebration’s impact beyond the walls of Kean University.
