Lambda Theta Alpha Celebrates 2025 National Convention en La Isla del Encanto

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE San Juan, Puerto Rico – June 27-29 Lambda Theta Alpha Celebrates 2025 National Convention en La Isla del Encanto

Nearly 530 members of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. convened at Caribe Hilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico June 27 – June 29, 2025, for their annual National Convention. The three-day weekend was filled with chances to reconnect, learn and bond while exploring the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. Celebrating 50 years of sisterhood, the sorority gathered to connect, celebrate and capture the essence of the organization’s principles: unity, love and respect.

Puerto Rico was host to not only the convention attendees but also hundreds of members from across the nation who traveled from far and wide to be in San Juan for the festive weekend of celebration. With membership spanning five decades, members of all ages and walks of life traveled to the island to celebrate the sorority’s half century legacy of paving the way.

This year’s theme, “Hoy, Mañana y Siempre: Our Legacy Continues”, highlighted the past present and future of the organization and its rich history as the first latina sorority in the nation. The weekend kicked off with national community service sponsored by the Lambda Theta Alpha Foundation where all convention attendees packed 400 bookbags for a local organization, Forjando un Nuevo Comienzo. The organization supports local youth and families and the backpacks will support elementary, middle and high school students with essential school supplies.

On Friday, as the sun began to set, excitement filled the air for the Welcome Reception, a high-energy kickoff to the convention weekend. The event was set against the stunning backdrop of the island’s ocean breeze, where members were greeted in true Puerto Rican fashion, by a lively parranda, complete with traditional instruments and joyful rhythms. With music flowing and hearts full, members participated in dynamic challenges, snapped selfies in front of sunset views, and reconnected in person for the first time in years for some. The energy of the night reflected the strength, joy, and unity that defines the sisterhood.

The Lambda Theta Alpha Foundation continued to play an integral role early Saturday morning, hosting the seventh annual 1.975 Walk/Run, bringing together over 60 members in a spirited show of unity and support. Later that day, during the National Awards Ceremony, the Foundation proudly awarded  22 scholarships of $1,000 each to students pursuing degrees at all levels — a testament to its commitment to academic excellence and access.

As a highlight of the weekend, Lambda Theta Alpha proudly presented donation checks to its two national philanthropic partners, showcasing the power of collective sisterhood in action. A donation of $35,168.39 was awarded to the Lambda Theta Alpha Foundation, directly supporting scholarships and educational initiatives that uplift our community. Additionally, a contribution of $20,411.61 was presented to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to the fight against childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. These contributions are the result of year-round fundraising efforts, driven by the dedication, generosity, and passion of members from across the nation.

The weekend continued with the Lifetime Member Breakfast and their continued dedication to the progress and growth of thesorority. These distinguished alumnae gathered together to share their memories, celebrate collective accomplishments and honor their ongoing support for Lambda Theta Alpha.

Saturday marked a signature day of the 2025 National Convention, beginning with the powerful premiere of the “HERstory” documentary — a cinematic tribute to Lambda Theta Alpha’s 50-year legacy. The one-hour film captivated attendees with a moving celebration of the sorority’s resilience and impact, told through the voices of its trailblazing Founding Mothers and First Line. It was more than a screening — it was a time capsule, transporting members across five decades of vision, struggle, and triumph.

That reflection deepened during the HERstory Q&A session, where members had the rare opportunity to hear directly from the Founding Mothers, the First Line, and other notable members. Their personal stories and wisdom offered a living history lesson — one that rekindled pride and underscored the foundation on which the sisterhood stands today.

The momentum carried into the afternoon with a series of vibrant breakout sessions, offering members space to grow personally, professionally, and collectively. Whether learning about entrepreneurship with Kia Rorie of KSQUARED Technology Consulting, becoming financially fearless with Jannese Torres of Yo Quiero Dinero, exploring womens health with Carolina Jones, or engaging in civic impact with Voto Latino, each session reflected the diversity and brilliance of the members who make up LTA. These experiences were more than just workshops — they were calls to action, offering tools to lead with purpose in every corner of life.

The day’s message of reflection and transformation culminated in the highly anticipated Keynote, titled Harnessing Our Power Today with The Sea of Lessons — De las Perlas del Ayer Para Un Mañana Viviendo Nuestro Legado Para Siempre, delivered by the inspiring Eve Dunkins (Chi, FA99). As the Founder and CEO of The Art of Mindful Living, LLC and creator of its groundbreaking wellness app, Eve has dedicated her career to transforming adversity into purpose and redefining holistic wellness. With over 25 years of leadership experience in mental health advocacy and systemic change, she challenged members to honor the “pearls” of the past, the lessons of our founders, and to step into their power today to shape a legacy that lasts. The keynote served as both a tribute and a charge, inviting members to step into their power, honor their history, and transform life’s lessons into stepping stones for an enduring legacy.

The evening closed with the unforgettable Alumnae Social at Barullo Taberna Española, where more than 250 alumnae gathered in golden attire to celebrate their lifelong connection to LTA. The energy was vibrant…… A spirited raffle supporting the LTA Foundation capped off the evening, raising funds to support scholarships and humanitarian initiatives that will carry the organization’s impact well into the future. It was the perfect ending to a day defined by celebration, reflection, and the power of living our legacy — para siempre.

The National Awards Ceremony was a vibrant tribute to the enduring legacy of excellence demonstrated by our chapters and members during the 2025–2026 year. It honored those who upheld the highest ideals of leadership, scholarship, service, and sisterhood with exceptional dedication and impact. Throughout the afternoon, the 2025–2026 National Awards were presented to individuals and groups whose contributions in academic success, community service, civic engagement, and sisterhood have left a meaningful and lasting mark. These honorees embodied the spirit of Lambda Theta Alpha—leading with intention, empowering those around them, and setting a standard of excellence that continues to inspire our sisterhood.
